Engadget: Is this the fourth generation iPhone? (iPhone HD)
by Chaz on Apr.18, 2010, under Apple, Smartphones

Engadget have a very interesting scoop. They have acquired some supposed shots and what seems to be hands on time with the potential next Gen iPhone.
The worst thing is that the device doesn’t power on so there is a chance that this isn’t the real thing but in my opinion if it is real. it does look similar to the HTC HD2 or the Evolution.

iPad worldwide launch dealyed, over 500,000 sold so far!
by Chaz on Apr.14, 2010, under Apple
Apple have had to postpone the iPad’s worldwide launch due to high demand.
Although we have delivered more than 500,000 iPads during its first week, demand is far higher than we predicted and will likely continue to exceed our supply over the next several weeks as more people see and touch an iPad™. We have also taken a large number of pre-orders for iPad 3G models for delivery by the end of April.
The iPad will now launch worldwide at the end of May with preorders starting on Monday May 10th. iPad fans are sadly going to have to wait a few more weeks unless happy eBay scalpers get your cash.

Original iPhone and iPod touch neglected an OS 4.0 update.
by Chaz on Apr.08, 2010, under Apple, Smartphones, Software
It seems that the original iPhone and iPod touch’s time for iPhone OS updates is over. According to an iPhone preview OS page, both of the first gen devices are excluded from updates.
iPhone OS 4 Compatibility
iPhone OS 4 will work with iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, and the second- and third-generation iPod touch this summer, and with iPad in the fall. Not all features are compatible with all devices. For example, multitasking is available only with iPhone 3GS and the third-generation iPod touch (32GB and 64GB models from late 2009).
If this leaves first gen owners on iPhone OS 3.1 is unknown but it seems the pioneers of iPhone OS will be stuck without updates.

New toy! iPod touch 8gb
by Chaz on Apr.02, 2010, under Apple
My lovely wife bought me a new toy yesterday, an 8gb iPod touch. It’s a nice little media player but her 32gb model is easily faster with it’s increased CPU, GPU and RAM.
We’ve had a brief session of Let’s golf multiplayer which worked really well and I now have access to my old iPhone apps from when I had my iPhone 3g.
Now the wait is on for an iPhone os 3.1.3 jailbreak.
Opera submit Opera Mini web browser to Apple for approval on iPhone OS
by Chaz on Mar.23, 2010, under Apple, Smartphones, Software
Opera today have submitted their iPhone version of Opera Mini to Apple for approval on the app store and have posted a video of the advantages of their server side compression at work on an EDGE connection.
With an impressive 5 pages loaded to Safari’s one page on EDGE, it really does show how the browser will benefit those with low signal. Opera have aslo posted a competition where you can guess the approval date and the closest guess will win an iPhone! Some are seeing this as Opera putting pressure on Apple to approve it swiftly and to stop them from denying it altogether as Apple will undoubtedly get some bad press if it is rejected for a trivial reason.
Head on over to the competition page (if you hadn’t earlier) to submit your guess to try and win an iPhone 3G

iPhone Os 4.0 roumours from Boy Genius Report
by Chaz on Jan.19, 2010, under Apple, Software
Boy Geneius Report has posted some interesting roumours about the iPhone OS 4.0 update.
Here are some iPhone OS 4.0 features, according to our guy:
The last piece of information is the most vague, but apparently there will be some brand new syncing ability for the contacts and calendar applications. There will be multi-touch gestures OS-wide. (Would make sense for that as the rumored OS for the iTablet is close if not the same as the iPhone) “A few new ways” to run applications in the background — multitasking. Many graphical and UI changes to make navigating through the OS easier and more efficient. We haven’t had this broken down, but we can only hope for improved notifications, a refreshed homescreen, etc. The update will supposedly be available for only the iPhone 3G and 3GS, but will “put them ahead in the smartphone market because it will make them more like full-fledged computers” more than any other phone to date. Everyone is “really excited.” (continue reading…)
