Nokia step it up with the Nokia N8 Symbian^3 smartphone.

Nokia today officially announced the Nokia N8 Symbian^3 powered smartphone.
Sepcifications for the handset include:
- 12 Megapixel Camera with Xenon flash.
- High definition video recording.
- 3.5 inch capacitive touchscreen.
- HDMI connector for viewing content on a HDTV.
- 16GB of buit in storage expandable to 48GB with the SD card slot and a 32GB Micro SD card.
- Multitouch gestures.
- Ovi Store and Nokia Maps turn by turn GPS
The handset is going to be made available in 5 different colours at a cost of €370.

First glimpse Symbian^4 demo videos

The new UI looks very finger friendly and touch centric but these early videos lack some polish. Hopefully it will look more polished once released and there is no reason to think it won’t as these to seem to be very early previews.

Here is a quick roundup of announcements from Samsung and SonyEricsson at Mobile World Congress in Barcalona today:
Samsung hit us with the Wave.
The Samsung Wave is announced. The first smartphone to run Bada OS and features a 1GHz CPU and a “Super OLED” screen. Shots of the handset in an Engaget hands on really do show off that fantastic Super OLED screen. How Bada develops as a smartphone OS is to be seen but the wave does look like a very nice handset! There seems to be a lack of multitouch which is a negative if multitouch is your kind of thing.

Nokia walk and drive navigation now free on Nokia smartphones.

Following Google with free navigation (US Only for Android), Nokia have now released its GPS software for free to all with a Nokia smartphone.
Nokia has today announced plans to release a new version of Ovi Maps for itssmartphones that includes high-end walk and drive navigation at no extra cost,available for download at www.nokia.com/maps. This move has the potential to nearly double the size of the current mobile navigation market. The new version of Ovi Maps includes high-end car and pedestrian navigation features, such as turn-by-turn voice guidance for 74 countries, in 46languages, and traffic information for more than 10 countries, as well asdetailed maps for more than 180 countries.

SonyEricsson Vivaz symbian smartphone.

Phonearena have posted some promo shots of the SonyEricsson Vivaz Symbian powered smartphone.
Some features are an 8.1 Megapixel camera and 720p resolution video recording all in a nice looking handset. More info on specifications below.
